Rainy days ahead for Odisha, IMD forecasts thunderstorms till July 25

Bhubaneswar, July 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a spell of unsettled weather across Odisha, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the coming days. In its latest bulletin issued on Saturday, the IMD said a trough is currently extending from north-central Bihar to Odisha via Jharkhand at an altitude of 0.9 km above mean sea level, contributing to these weather conditions.

As per the forecast, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at many places across Odisha until July 25. A yellow warning has been issued for July 20, with the IMD cautioning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds reaching 30–40 kmph at isolated places in districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Kandhamal.

Similar weather conditions are expected in several other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Ganjam, and western Odisha districts on both July 20 and 21. The IMD has maintained a yellow warning through July 25, urging residents and authorities to remain alert to possible disruptions and take necessary precautions.
