Similipal Tiger Reserve implements online booking for visitor entry starting February 1

Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Tourists intending to visit the Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will now be required to book their entry online due to a new regulation implemented by the park authorities. This rule, announced by STR Field Director Prakash Chand Gogineni, will take effect on February 1.
While visitors can still enter the reserve through the Pithabata and Kalikaprasad gates using offline methods for the time being, they must now obtain permits via the online platform. Applications can be submitted through the websites www.similipal.org or www.ecotourodisha.com.
The introduction of the online system is designed to enhance transparency, streamline the entry process, and prevent any irregularities in issuing permits for private vehicles. Tourists are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly and complete their applications online to avoid any potential delays.
It is worth noting that Similipal was designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve and officially recognized by the Government of India in 1994. Prior to that, in 1979, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary by the Government of Odisha, highlighting its significance as a protected area for biodiversity.
