SCB Medical College doctor accused of raping two patients, investigation underway

Bhubaneswar, Aug 13: A doctor from the Cardiology department at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has been accused of raping two patients, causing a stir in the Millennium City.

This incident comes at a time when medical professionals nationwide are protesting for improved workplace security following the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata.

According to reports, the accused doctor is currently receiving treatment in the ICU after being allegedly attacked by the victims' family members once the allegations were revealed. The alleged assaults occurred on August 11, when the victims had visited the hospital for ECG tests.

The Mangalabag Police have launched an investigation into the case. Additional DCP Anil Mishra stated, “A case has been filed. Given the sensitivity of the matter, we cannot disclose further details at this time. The victims' statements will be recorded according to legal procedures, and appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation if the allegations are substantiated.” Mishra also noted that the incident occurred on the SCB campus, and a case will be filed if the accused doctor reports the assault.
