Minister Sampad Chandra Swain reviews industrial development in Khurda
Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, today visited Khurda’s industrial estate to assess ongoing projects and future prospects.
Accompanied by local MLA Prashant Kumar Jagdev, Principal Secretary to the Industries Department, and MD of IDCO, the Minister toured several key industrial units, including SMS Group, Indo NISSIN, and Coca Cola.
During his visit, Minister Swain emphasized the importance of creating local employment opportunities and increasing the engagement of skilled workers from ITIs and polytechnic institutions in Khurda District. He noted the need for industries to contribute to local workforce development.
Following the tour, a detailed review meeting was held at the Collectorate Office in Khurda. The Principal Secretary provided an update on upcoming industries and highlighted the growing demand for industrial development in the district.
IDCO is advancing plans for new industrial parks in Kalibeti, Mundamba, Haldiapada, and Begunia. The Mundamba park, focused on food processing, has already attracted 15 units, including Varun Beverages. Kalibeti is earmarked for the textile and garment sector, with EPIC initiating a garment manufacturing unit.
Minister Swain expressed satisfaction with the progress and infrastructure, emphasizing Khurda’s potential to become a major industrial hub. He announced 15 new land patches for development, projecting investments of around ₹6,400 crore and approximately 13,000 new jobs. The Minister urged IDCO and local administrations to address issues related to parking, law and order, and infrastructure to support this growth.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering industrial growth, aiming to position Odisha as a leading industrial hub in India.
