Prime Minister to launch 10 Vande Bharat trains; Odisha to receive 3 new services

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager of East Coast Railway, met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Assembly Office Room. Funkwal extended an invitation on behalf of the Union Ministry of Railways for the Chief Minister to attend the launch ceremony of the Vande Bharat trains, which will be held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 15th of this month. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had previously sent a special invitation letter for this event.

On the 15th, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 10 new Vande Bharat trains across the country, including three that will operate in Odisha: Tata-Berhampur Vande Bharat, Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat, and Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat. The Chief Minister has been invited to the launch event at Berhampur station. Currently, Odisha has three Vande Bharat trains in operation, and the addition of these three new trains will bring the total to six serving the state.

This year’s budget has allocated a record Rs 10,586 crore for enhancing Odisha's railway infrastructure, with ongoing projects worth Rs 54,434 crore. This significant investment reflects the central government’s commitment to improving Odisha's railway and transportation systems. Chief Minister Majhi expressed his gratitude to Railway Minister Vaishnaw for the invitation.
