Odisha to get respite from scorching heat as IMD predicts rain and thunderstorms

Bhubaneswar, April 2: The people of Odisha can expect some relief from the relentless summer heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall and thunderstorms in several parts of the state over the next three days. The forecast brings much-needed respite as temperatures have been soaring, causing discomfort among residents.
According to the IMD, light rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in one or two places across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, and Nuapada. However, the rest of Odisha is expected to experience dry weather conditions.
The IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph in some areas. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions to avoid any mishaps due to sudden weather changes.
On April 3, light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are expected in parts of northern and western Odisha, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada.
Similarly, on April 4, the IMD forecasts similar weather conditions in coastal and interior districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
