Odisha to experience light rain amidst developing low-pressure system

Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday that a low-pressure system is expected to develop over the central regions of the south Bay of Bengal around December 7.
The weather system is projected to move in a west-northwest direction, reaching the southwest Bay of Bengal near the coasts of Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu by December 12. As a result, heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated areas of coastal Tamil Nadu on December 11-12, as well as in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema on December 12.
While Odisha is not expected to experience significant effects from this system, light rain is forecast for December 8-9. The IMD indicated that rain could occur in several districts, including Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, and Balangir on December 8, and in Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, and Boudh on December 9.
Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is expected in parts of Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi on December 7-8. Nighttime temperatures are predicted to drop by 2 to 4°C over the next two days, followed by a rise of 2 to 3°C in the subsequent days.
