Odisha CM disburses ₹5,000 under Subhadra Yojana’s third phase

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: During a special event in Sundargarh on Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi distributed the first instalment of ₹5,000 under the Subhadra Yojana, marking the third phase of the Odisha government’s cash transfer initiative aimed at financially empowering women.

The Chief Minister announced that the funds had been credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts, urging them to check for notifications on their mobile phones. This phase benefited over 20 lakh women, including Anganwadi workers, bringing the total number of women supported by the scheme to 80 lakh.

The event was attended by Union Minister Jual Oram, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, and Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik. The scheme had previously provided ₹5,000 each to 60 lakh women in two phases. In the first phase, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, approximately 25 lakh beneficiaries received funds.

The second phase, conducted on October 9, saw the amount transferred to additional beneficiaries. The fourth and final instalment for this round is expected by December, aiming to cover over one crore women after addressing discrepancies and completing physical verification.

Subhadra Yojana guarantees eligible women aged 21 to 60 years financial assistance of ₹50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29. Beneficiaries will receive ₹10,000 annually, split into two instalments, directly credited to their Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled bank accounts.
