Odisha Law Minister warns against illegal sale of Lord Jagannath's lands

Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan issued a strong warning on Sunday against the illegal sale of land belonging to Lord Jagannath. He stated that strict legal action, including criminal charges, would be taken against any buyers, sellers, or sub-registrars involved in such transactions.
The state government has uncovered multiple cases of land grabbing, where properties dedicated to Lord Jagannath were unlawfully sold. Harichandan emphasized that such activities not only breach legal provisions but also dishonor the sanctity of the deity's assets.
To address the issue, the minister announced plans to create a dedicated corpus fund. This fund, financed through the proceeds recovered from encroached lands, will be used to protect and preserve the remaining properties of Lord Jagannath.
The initiative seeks to safeguard these lands for future generations, ensuring they continue to uphold their religious and cultural significance.
