Cold wave hits Odisha: Several areas see temperatures below 10°C

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: Cold wave conditions in Odisha have intensified, with G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recording the lowest temperature in the state at 5.2°C in the past 24 hours.
The hill station of G Udayagiri was closely followed by Rourkela, where the temperature dipped to 7.2°C, down from 8.1°C the previous night. Dense fog affected several areas of Kandhamal, while shallow fog was observed in parts of Kalahandi.
In the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the mercury also dropped below 15°C, with Bhubaneswar registering 14°C and Cuttack 12°C, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Temperatures fell below 10°C in other parts of the state, including Jharsuguda, which recorded 8°C, and Kirei at 8.8°C. Both Phulbani in Kandhamal and Semiliguda in Koraput recorded 9°C, while Sundargarh saw the temperature dip to 10°C.
According to the IMD, the cold conditions are expected to continue through the coming week. A yellow warning has been issued for Jharsuguda and Sundargarh, where cold wave conditions are likely until December 16.
