DGP YB Khurania commits to strengthening security at Jagannath Temple
Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: YB Khurania, the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) for Odisha today visited the Jagannath Temple, marking his first day in the new role. A 1990-batch IPS officer, Khurania was greeted by the Puri Superintendent of Police and other senior officers at the temple's Lions’ Gate.
Accompanied by his family, Khurania sought blessings from Lord Jagannath at the historic 12th-century shrine. After his prayers, he met with temple officials to discuss security and crowd management strategies.
Expressing his gratitude, Khurania remarked, “During my previous central deputation, I often thought about Lord Jagannath. It’s a privilege to serve both the Lord and the people of Odisha once more. We will implement necessary measures to enhance temple security and ensure a safe experience for devotees.”
Khurania was repatriated to Odisha from his central deputation on July 26, and the state government appointed him as the new DGP on August 16. He emphasized his commitment to improving police services and adhering to the Chief Minister’s call for courteous behavior towards visitors at police stations.
