Odisha CM meets Army officer and fiancée, promises impartial investigation

Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with an Indian Army Major, his fiancée, and her father at Loka Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Monday regarding the alleged police brutality case. During the meeting, he assured them of a fair investigation into the incident.

The Chief Minister discussed the matter briefly and emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty. Present at the meeting were Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, and Minister Suresh Pujari, among others.

After the discussion, the Army Major's fiancée expressed her gratitude, stating, “Mohan Majhi has proven himself to be a true people's Chief Minister. Thank you.” Law Minister Harichandan criticized the Opposition for politicizing the sensitive issue, urging them to reflect on their own actions during their time in power.

Additionally, the Odisha government has initiated a judicial probe into the case, which will be monitored by the High Court. The Court has also mandated that the names and images of the Army officer and his fiancée remain confidential across all media platforms.
