Odisha CM inaugurates nine new galleries at State Museum

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially inaugurated nine new galleries at the Odisha State Museum, marking a significant enhancement to the museum's offerings. The new galleries include the Pre-historic Gallery, Royal and Ivory Gallery, Zoological Gallery, Mining and Geology Gallery, Puppet Gallery, Mask Gallery, Tribes Gallery, Handicrafts Gallery, and Identification Room.

During his visit, the Chief Minister also explored the newly constructed Talachitra, which houses exhibitions on the Ramayana and underground artifacts.

In his remarks, Majhi emphasized the importance of the museum as a reflection of Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing the state's history, geography, mineral resources, art, culture, architecture, and diverse traditions.

The newly opened galleries are a treasure trove of knowledge and artifacts. The Mining and Geology Gallery offers valuable insights into Odisha’s vast mineral resources, while the Zoology Gallery highlights the state's forest ecosystems, lakes, and diverse wildlife. Visitors to the Zoology Gallery can also scan QR codes for additional information.

Other galleries worth noting include the Puppet Gallery, which features a variety of traditional puppets, and the Tribes Gallery, which highlights the lifestyle, festivals, and cultural history of Odisha’s tribal communities. The Handicrafts Gallery is a standout, displaying Odisha’s unique handicrafts and textiles in stunning detail.
