Odisha CM assesses impact of Bay of Bengal low pressure, directs immediate relief

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened a meeting in the Assembly room today to assess the impact of the low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal and the response measures undertaken. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, along with Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, provided an update on the situation and the actions being taken.

The Chief Minister noted significant waterlogging issues in various areas, exacerbated by inadequate drainage systems. Koraput and Malkangiri districts, in particular, have been severely affected by the heavy rains, leading to major disruptions in traffic and worsening waterlogging problems.

He instructed the department to address these issues promptly, utilizing resources from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and fire brigade. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of stocking up on relief materials and distributing them efficiently to those impacted by the flooding.
