Odisha Budget 2024-25: Focus on agriculture, health, and education with increased allocations

Bhubaneswar, July 25: On Thursday, Odisha Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mohan Majhi unveiled the state’s budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in the Odisha Assembly. The budget totals Rs 2,65,000 crore, marking an increase of approximately 15 percent over the previous fiscal year's budget of Rs 2,30,000 crore.

The new budget significantly boosts allocations for agriculture, with funding rising to Rs 33,919 crore from Rs 24,829 crore last year. The Chief Minister introduced the 'CM Kisan' scheme, designed to support farmers with an allocation of Rs 1935 crore. Additionally, the Samrudha Krushak Yojana was announced with a proposed outlay of Rs 5000 crore.

POSHAN Abhiyan: Rs 295 crore

Bhubaneswar Metro Rail: Rs 1,000 crore

Urban Water Supply: Rs 357 crore

New City Development: Rs 918 crore

Health

Ayushman Bharat: Rs 500 crore

Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana: Rs 5450 crore

Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Seva Mission: Rs 2462 crore

National Health Mission: Rs 2095 crore

Education

Gopabandhu Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya: Rs 50 crore

Panchasakha Sikhya Setu: Rs 332 crore

Mukhya Mantri Sikhya Puraskar: Rs 139 crore

Additionally, the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will replace the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, offering cashless treatment at both private and government hospitals. The budget also includes the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state.
