OMFED hikes milk prices across all variants; new rates effective from Saturday

Bhubaneswar, June 21: The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced a hike in the prices of all its milk variants, effective Saturday, citing increased procurement and operational costs. This marks the first price revision since April 1, 2023.
As per the revised rates, the price of toned milk has been increased by Rs 2 per litre, now retailing at Rs 50 per litre. Similarly, premium milk will also cost Rs 54 per litre, up by Rs 2. The gold milk variant has seen the steepest rise, with a Rs 4 per litre hike, bringing the new price to Rs 56 per litre.
This price revision follows the state government's decision on June 1, 2025, to increase the milk procurement price by Rs 3 per litre, a move aimed at benefiting around 2.5 lakh dairy farmers across Odisha. While the retail milk price was also revised from Rs 52 to Rs 54 per litre, the government had committed to covering half of the increased cost through subsidies to reduce the burden on consumers.
The revised prices reflect OMFED’s balancing act between supporting dairy farmers and ensuring milk affordability for the public.
