"Let's Talk Periods" campaign aims to break taboos around menstruation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 28: In a bid to end the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation, the IFI Foundation, in collaboration with OdishaLIVE and Swasthya Plus Network, has launched a digital awareness campaign titled "Let's Talk Periods." Running from May 20 to May 29, the initiative aligns with Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed globally on May 28.
The campaign seeks to normalize conversations around periods and promote menstrual hygiene as a fundamental aspect of health and dignity. It directly addresses social taboos, restrictions, and misinformation that many girls and women still face at home, work, and in their communities.
"Let's Talk Periods" features an engaging video series on OdishaLIVE and Swasthya Plus's social media platforms, offering expert insights from doctors and diverse perspectives from celebrities, social workers, and young people. It covers the entire menstrual journey—from menarche to menopause—highlighting topics like menstrual hygiene, health concerns, and modern, eco-friendly period products.
Sidharth Rath, Campaign Director and CEO of Swasthya Plus, emphasized the campaign’s global relevance: “Now is our moment to magnify awareness and ensure menstruation never hinders a woman’s dreams.” The initiative is backed by Kalinga Hospital and Paradip Phosphates Limited as part of the 2025 program.
