IMD predicts continued cold conditions and fog in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: In Odisha's Jharsuguda, the night temperature has plummeted by 8.4°C over the past three days. The temperature recorded was 17.6°C in the early hours of December 29, followed by 15.2°C on December 30 and 11.6°C on December 31. On New Year's Day, the temperature fell further to 9.2°C, which is 2.8°C below the normal level.
In the last 24 hours, G. Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal, registered the lowest temperature in the state at 6.2°C. It was followed by Semiliguda in Koraput at 10.1°C and Sundargarh at 10.7°C. Meanwhile, the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack experienced temperatures of 16.4°C and 15.2°C, down from 18.1°C and 16.5°C, respectively, the previous day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further decrease in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C in the next 24 hours, with no significant changes expected thereafter. The IMD also issued warnings for dense fog in Angul and Kandhamal districts until Thursday morning, with shallow to moderate fog anticipated in several other areas, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, and Nayagarh.
