IMD forecasts temperature rise in Odisha amid ongoing winter chill

Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: Odisha is expected to experience a slight increase in nighttime temperatures in the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

The IMD's midday bulletin indicates that the night temperature in the state could rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius after two days. In the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, temperatures are predicted to hover between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius over the next week.

The weather agency has also issued a warning for dense fog in one or two areas of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts until Saturday morning. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may affect places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

Over the past 24 hours, temperatures dipped below 10 degrees Celsius in nine locations across the state, with G Udayagiri in Kandhamal recording the lowest at 4.8 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day. Meanwhile, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar saw temperatures of 12.4 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively, which is 1 degree below the normal range. On the previous day, the twin cities had recorded temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
