60-year-old man and teen daughter found dead in rented flat in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old man and his 17-year-old daughter were found dead under mysterious circumstances in their rented flat at Snehalata Apartments in Cuttack’s Badambadi area on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Manas Ranjan Das and his daughter, Harshrita. While Manas Ranjan was found hanging, Harshrita’s body was discovered lying motionless on the bed.

Upon receiving information, Badambadi police arrived at the scene, seized the bodies, and registered two cases of unnatural death. A forensic team was also called in to collect evidence and assist in the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Manas Ranjan had been struggling with severe financial distress. Reports suggest he had been unable to pay rent for several months and was recently asked by the landlord to vacate the apartment.

Police suspect that the father and daughter may have taken the extreme step due to mounting financial and emotional pressure. The tragic deaths have left residents of the apartment complex in shock, as investigations continue to determine the exact cause behind the incident.
