Youths ransack liquor store in Bhubaneswar demanding ‘free liquor’

Bhubaneswar, Aug 26: Commissionerate Police on Monday escalated their investigation into the ransacking of a liquor shop in the Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when a group of unidentified youths entered the shop and caused a disturbance after their request for free alcohol was denied. Initially, they attempted extortion, but when that failed, they allegedly vandalized the shop by damaging the door and throwing liquor bottles at the staff. The entire episode was recorded by the shop's CCTV cameras.
A staff member from the liquor shop reported, “Between 9 pm and 10 pm, 4 to 5 individuals entered the shop demanding free liquor. They threatened us and asked for both money and alcohol. Although we managed to force them out, they continued to throw stones at the counter.”
Authorities have been informed, and sources indicate that some local youths have been involved in similar extortion activities at other businesses in the area.
