Two more luxury vehicles confiscated from con woman Hansita Abhilipsa
Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Police have confiscated two additional luxury cars belonging to Hansita Abhilipsa, who, along with her associate Anil Mohanty, was arrested for allegedly defrauding wealthy individuals out of crores of rupees by posing as relatives of prominent political figures and bureaucrats in Odisha.
During the ongoing investigation into this high-profile fraud case, the Commissionerate Police seized high-end vehicles, including models from Porsche and Jaguar. With these recent seizures, a total of three luxury cars belonging to Hansita have been confiscated; the first was seized in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The duo is accused of targeting builders, mining operators, multinational corporation executives, and business owners in Bhubaneswar, deceiving them by claiming to be the daughter and son-in-law of P.K. Mishra, principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Previously, police conducted a raid at the suspects' office in Bhubaneswar, where they seized laptops, computers, and mobile phones, which are now undergoing examination at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL). Additionally, the Income Tax department has provisionally attached four flats and five luxury vehicles linked to the accused.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Hansita is married to Saroj Kumar Sahoo, with Anil managing her finances. The I-T department's searches uncovered multiple properties and luxury cars registered under the names of Hansita, Saroj, and Anil. A native of Kalahandi district, Hansita holds degrees in rural management and sociology, and she allegedly swindled many by falsely presenting herself as an associate of influential politicians and bureaucrats in Odisha.
