SUM Hospital clinches top prize for diabetes study
Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, under Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), has secured the first prize for an innovative study at the recent India chapter conference of the American College of Physicians (ACP) held in Lucknow.
The department was awarded for its groundbreaking study on diabetic complications, specifically the ‘Assessment of Hypogonadism and its Determinants among Adult Men with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus,’ conducted by DM Endocrinology resident Dr. Jaspreet Singh under the mentorship of Professor Dr. Jayshree Swain.
According to Prof. Swain, the department had previously garnered widespread recognition, including winning the best paper prize at the ACP India chapter conference last year. The department has published several research papers on Diabetes and Endocrinology, which have been highly praised within the medical community for their depth and impact. Notably, the department won first prize at the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) conference in 2023.
Prof. Swain emphasized that these awards and recognitions highlight the department’s unwavering commitment to advancing diabetes research, improving patient care, and addressing complex medical challenges with innovative solutions.
