SUM Health Care Services to set up affordable hospitals in all Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: The Odisha government has approved a proposal from SUM Health Care Services to establish 50-bedded multi-specialty hospitals in each district of the state, aimed at delivering affordable and high-quality healthcare to people at the grassroots level.
This ambitious Rs. 1000 crore project will provide a wide range of medical services, including primary and secondary care, trauma and emergency treatment, diagnostic services, geriatric care, physiotherapy, and pharmacy outlets at each district headquarters.
Anurag Nayak, Project Manager of SUM Healthcare Services, highlighted that the initiative would significantly enhance healthcare access in rural areas. Additionally, the project is expected to create direct employment opportunities for around 900 individuals and indirect job opportunities for approximately 6,000 people, further boosting the local economy.
The proposal was officially accepted during the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave, with Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, the state’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, and S. Aswathy, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare department, present at the announcement.
