Rape accused killed by survivor and her husband in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Bhubaneswar, March 3: A man accused of rape, who was out on bail, was allegedly killed by the survivor and her husband in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. The police took the couple into custody on Sunday after uncovering their involvement in the incident.
The deceased, Raj Kumar Yadav (28) from Bihar, was shot with an arrow, and his body was later dumped in a nullah. Yadav, along with the couple, resided in Teliposh village under Birmitrapur police limits. Reports indicate that Yadav had raped the woman in January 2023 when she was alone at home. He repeatedly assaulted her over the next four months, warning her not to disclose the abuse.
In May 2023, the woman confided in her husband, who subsequently filed a police complaint, leading to Yadav’s arrest. However, after securing bail six months ago, Yadav began threatening the couple to withdraw the case. On Saturday, when Yadav confronted them again, the woman's husband fatally shot him with an arrow. The couple disposed of the body, but locals later discovered it, prompting a police investigation.
