Paris Olympics: Kishore Jena fails to qualify for javelin final

New Delhi, Aug 6: Indian javelin thrower Kishore Jena, who won silver at the Asian Games, finished ninth in the Group A qualification round of the men’s javelin throw at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, missing out on the final.
Jena's top throw was 80.73 meters, which placed him ninth in his group. Only the top four from Group A advanced to the medal round. To qualify for the final, athletes need to be among the top 12 overall from both groups A and B.
His best performance came on his first throw. His second attempt was invalid, and his third throw was 80.21 meters.
In contrast, Finland’s Toni Keranen surpassed the qualification mark of 84.00 meters with a personal best throw of 85.27 meters. Other qualifiers included Julian Weber from Germany (87.76 meters), Julius Yego from Kenya (85.97 meters), and Jakub Vadlejch from Czechia (85.63 meters).
India’s reigning Olympic champion and World Championships gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will be competing next.
