Odisha Government orders probe into OSSC and OPSC exam irregularities

Bhubaneswar, April 28: Following reports of serious irregularities in examinations conducted by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) and Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), the state government on Monday announced a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Officials have assured that stringent action will be taken against those found responsible for the lapses.

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj stated that the departments linked to the examination processes would thoroughly examine the errors. He also emphasized that the government had recently passed legislation in the Assembly aimed at tightening measures against malpractices in recruitment exams. Anyone proven guilty will face action as per the new legal provisions, he added.

Public anger erupted after mistakes were detected in both exams held on Sunday. In the OSSC recruitment exam for Excise Sub-Inspector and Traffic Sub-Inspector posts, candidates alleged that instead of questions on Odia, English, and General Knowledge, they encountered Arithmetic questions intended for a Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam.

Similarly, in the OPSC Odisha Civil Services (OCS) 2023 Main Examination, candidates faced a mix-up between Anthropology Paper-I and Paper-II, adding to the confusion and dissatisfaction among aspirants.
