Odisha CM launches ‘Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha’ scheme for rural transformation

Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the highly anticipated transformative scheme, ‘Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha,’ on Wednesday, aimed at accelerating rural development across the state. The launch event was attended by prominent figures, including Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Khurda MLA Prasanta Jagadev, and Bhubaneswar-Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, among others.

During his address, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of separating politics from development to achieve rapid progress in the state. The ‘Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha’ initiative aims to directly address the needs and concerns of rural residents. The government plans to invest approximately Rs 5,000 crore over the next five years to implement various initiatives under this scheme.

The primary goal is to improve basic infrastructure in villages and enhance connectivity in rural areas. The Chief Minister highlighted the government's commitment to developing every village, echoing Mahatma Gandhi's sentiment that “India lives in its villages.”

The Odisha government aims to boost rural infrastructure, improve the quality of life, and promote economic growth through this scheme. It seeks to bridge critical gaps in rural development by implementing sustainable projects that will create diverse infrastructure and support the broader objectives of transforming Odisha into a more developed state.

This comprehensive program focuses on upgrading infrastructure, civic amenities, and educational facilities in Odisha’s villages. With a budget of Rs 5,000 crore over five years, the scheme aims to create enduring assets for rural communities, fostering long-term growth and development.
