Odisha BJP to launch membership drive with state event on Tuesday
Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The Odisha BJP will officially kick off its membership drive on Tuesday, State BJP President Manmohan Samal announced on Monday.
During a press briefing in Bhubaneswar, Samal revealed, “The membership campaign will begin in Odisha following a launch event today in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other prominent leaders joining.”
Samal elaborated that while individuals can start signing up today, a special ceremony to mark the official launch will be held at the party’s state headquarters in Bhubaneswar at 2 pm on Tuesday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with ministers, party MLAs, and other leaders, will participate in the event and renew their memberships.
A toll-free number (8800002024) for BJP membership registration will be activated from 5 pm today. Interested individuals over the age of 18 can call this number to join the party, Samal said. He emphasized the importance of membership, noting that in 2014, the BJP surpassed China's Communist Party to become the world's largest political party, adding 7 crore new members in the following three years.
Samal encouraged widespread participation, citing that 42 lakh people in Odisha have already joined the BJP, contributing to significant vote shares in recent elections. He urged citizens to become members and strengthen the party, highlighting that the membership drive, held once every six years, is crucial for engaging with the community and showcasing the party's achievements.
