Odisha Assembly Speaker warns against disruptions ahead of budget session

Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: With the Odisha Assembly's budget session set to begin on February 13, Speaker Surama Padhy emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline among opposition members.

She stated that while constructive suggestions from the opposition are welcome, any form of disruptions or obstructions will not be tolerated during the session. The Speaker urged opposition parties to engage in meaningful discussions and contribute positively to the proceedings.

The third session of the 17th Assembly will run from February 13 to April 5. Chief Minister Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is scheduled to present the State Budget for 2025-26 on February 17. General discussions on the budget will take place on February 20 and 21, with the Appropriation Bill set to be presented on March 29.

The session will commence with an address by Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu, followed by a motion of thanks on the Governor's speech. According to the provisional schedule, the session will have 28 business days. Additionally, an all-party meeting will be convened prior to the start of the session to ensure smooth functioning.
