Odisha Assembly Speaker bans mobile phones and water bottles in House

Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy implemented a ban on mobile phone usage and the carrying of water bottles within the House. The restriction was imposed after reports emerged of a member taking pictures and others using phones during proceedings.

The Speaker expressed strong disapproval of these actions and instructed MLAs to refrain from such behavior inside the Assembly. The use of mobile phones during sessions is considered inappropriate, and legislators have been explicitly instructed to avoid using their devices.

Although drinking water is readily available within the Assembly complex, many legislators have been observed bringing their own water bottles into the House. The new rules aim to address this issue and maintain order during sessions.
