Puri's Jagannath Temple to implement dhadi darshan system next month

Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: The implementation of the dhadi (queue) darshan system at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, has been postponed to February 1, moving the date back from the previously announced January 20.
This new system is designed to improve the flow of devotees and features a six-lane ramp secured by wooden collapsible barricades at Natamandap, located directly opposite the sanctum sanctorum.
Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan noted that the delay is due to the need for necessary permissions to relocate the ‘hundi’ within the Natamandap. He stated, “Two to three permissions are required for shifting the hundi, and the government is currently working on obtaining them.”
Once the hundi is moved, wooden structures and ramps constructed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited will be installed.
The revamped system includes dedicated pathways for men, women, and senior citizens, with an elevated ramp near Bahara Katha to improve visibility of the deities during the queueing process. The first lane will cater to differently-abled individuals, the second for women and children, the third for the elderly, and the remaining three lanes for male devotees.
