Rs 3.51 crores recovered from robbery gang in Kalahandi

Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: In a significant achievement against organized crime, the Dharmagarh police in Odisha's Kalahandi district dismantled an interstate robbery gang, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals.

The police operation led to the recovery of a staggering ₹3.51 crores in cash, along with firearms, ammunition, and vehicles linked to the criminal activities. Authorities confirmed that the suspects are residents of Ranchi district in Jharkhand.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Tahir Ansari, Hussein Khan, Jaisam Khan, Samim Ansari, Basudev Gope, Pintu alias Alim, and Anuj Kumar.

Reports indicate that the gang of masked robbers attacked a liquor shop on January 30 within Dharmagarh police jurisdiction, threatening staff and patrons before fleeing with a significant amount of money. They escaped in a vehicle registered as JH10AP4817, prompting the police to file a case.

Under the guidance of the Kalahandi Superintendent of Police, a specialized team was assembled to track down the culprits. Following multiple raids, all suspects were apprehended. The investigation revealed the vehicle’s whereabouts in Jharkhand, and initial arrests led to the discovery of the remaining gang members.

Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania praised the Kalahandi SP and the task force for their prompt and effective actions in this case.
