Retired Army Colonel killed in hit-and-run incident in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: A tragic incident occurred in the Niladri Vihar area of Odisha's capital on Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a retired Army Colonel.
The victim, identified as 64-year-old Rabindra Kumar Benera, was struck by a speeding vehicle while returning home from his morning walk near the Shani Temple at approximately 5:30 AM. Behera, who was a practicing doctor and resided in Defence Colony, was left critically injured on the road after the collision, while the vehicle responsible for the accident fled the scene.
Local residents rushed to his aid and transported him to Capital Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. His family has been notified, and a postmortem examination has been scheduled.
The police have responded by visiting the accident site to document the scene and have opened an investigation to locate both the vehicle and its driver. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area in hopes of identifying the vehicle involved in this unfortunate incident.
