Odisha experiences first taste of winter, IMD predicts further dip in temperatures

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: The night temperature in at least 10 places across Odisha dropped below 15°C on Sunday, signaling the arrival of winter. However, despite it being the third week of November, many regions, except for south interior Odisha, are still experiencing relatively warm conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a further dip of 2°C to 3°C in temperatures over the next three days.
G Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature at 7.8°C, followed by Phulbani at 11°C, which also witnessed moderate fog. Bhubaneswar saw a minimum temperature of 16°C, while Cuttack recorded 16.5°C. Other places like Daringabadi, Angul, and Bhavanipatna recorded 12°C, 13°C, and 13°C respectively. In Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, and Dhenkanal, the temperatures ranged from 13.1°C to 14.9°C.
Angul experienced a significant drop, with a minimum temperature of 4.5°C below normal. With the onset of winter, evenings are gradually becoming colder. The weather department has also stated that there is no chance of rain for the next seven days, and the weather is expected to remain dry across the state.
