Odisha alerts public to cyber scams linked to Subhadra Yojana

Bhubaneswar, Sept 16: With women beneficiaries eagerly anticipating the launch of the Subhadra Yojana, the Odisha government has issued a warning about potential cyber fraud. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official unveiling of the scheme on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida advised the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities.
Reports have surfaced of scammers tricking individuals by sending fraudulent links or making deceptive phone calls under the guise of the Subhadra Yojana. Parida clarified that the Odisha government is not engaging in any such communication and highlighted that one person has already lost approximately Rs 12,000 to these fraudsters.
To avoid falling victim, Parida urged people not to click on any suspicious links or share personal information, such as OTPs, over the phone. She emphasized that no calls or links will be sent by the government regarding Subhadra Yojana, and funds will be directly deposited into beneficiaries' bank accounts.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that the initial installment of Rs 5,000 will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ accounts. Additionally, the launch event will be broadcast live from 318 locations across the state. Registration for the Subhadra Yojana will remain open even after the Prime Minister's formal launch.
