No candidate clears Odisha District Judge Examination 2024

Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: In a surprising outcome, not a single candidate managed to qualify for the interview round of the competitive examination-2024 for the recruitment of 45 district judges in Odisha.
The written test, conducted by the Orissa High Court, aimed to fill 31 positions through direct recruitment from advocates and 14 positions from judicial officers through a limited competitive examination.
As per the eligibility criteria, law graduates with at least seven years of advocacy experience and judicial officers with a minimum of five years in the rank of civil judge (senior division) could apply. The age limit was set between 35 and 45 years. A total of 283 advocates and 83 judicial officers were found eligible to appear for the exam, held on January 5, 2025.
However, a notification issued by the Registrar (Examination) of the High Court on February 17 stated that none of the candidates qualified. To proceed to the interview round, candidates needed to secure at least 50% overall and a minimum of 45% in each paper.
For direct recruitment, three papers of 100 marks each were conducted, while judicial officers had two papers of 75 marks each. The results uploaded on the High Court website revealed that only 180 out of 283 advocates appeared for the exam. Notably, only 10 candidates scored above 30 marks in Paper I, while nine achieved the same in Paper II. In the General English paper, 48 candidates managed to score above 30 marks.
