Manu Bhaker finishes fourth in women's 25m pistol final at Paris Olympics

New Delhi, Aug 3: Manu Bhaker finished fourth in the women's 25m pistol final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, scoring 28 points. Initially tied for third with Hungary's Veronika Major, a past world record holder in the same event, Manu fell behind in the shoot-off, allowing Major to claim the bronze.
South Korea’s Yang Jiin secured the gold with 37 points in a shoot-off (4-1), while France's Camille Jedrzejewski took the silver.
Manu advanced to her third Olympic final in this event after finishing second in the women’s 25m pistol qualifier on Friday. Notably, no other Indian shooter has reached more than one final in a single Olympics, and only Abhinav Bindra has competed in three Olympic shooting finals for India across three Games.
In the qualification round, Manu scored 590-24x points, securing the second spot after a shoot-off. She recorded 294 in the precision stage and 296 in the rapid fire segment.
Earlier in the week, Manu earned bronze medals in both the women’s 10m air pistol and the mixed 10m air pistol events (with Sarabjot Singh). She became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal and the first Indian to secure more than one medal in a single Olympic Games.
