India's Satwik-Chirag secure final berth at Thailand Open

New Delhi, May 18: India's top men's doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, clinched a spot in the final of the Thailand Open badminton tournament following a commanding victory over Lu Ming-Che and Tang Kai-Wei of Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
Satwik and Chirag, who boast an Asian Games gold medal, demonstrated their dominance by dispatching their opponents in just 35 minutes with a scoreline of 21-11, 21-12 in the semifinals of this prestigious Super 500 tournament.
In the upcoming final on Sunday, the Indian duo, currently ranked third globally and top seeds in the competition, will square off against the Chinese tandem of Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi. Chen and Liu secured their final berth by defeating Kim Gi Jung and Kim Sa Rang of South Korea with a score of 21-19, 21-18 in the other semifinal match held on Saturday.
Meanwhile, in the women's doubles category, the fourth-seeded Indian duo comprising Tanisha Carsto and Ashwini Ponnappa are set to compete against top-seeded Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai of Thailand in the semifinals later on Saturday.
