IMD warns of heavy rainfall across Odisha in coming days
Bhubaneswar, July 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple districts of Odisha over the next three days. On Saturday, various parts of the state experienced rainfall of different intensities. According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in many places over the state in the coming week.
The cyclonic circulation over east-central Bay of Bengal has now shifted to west-central Bay of Bengal, off the south Andhra Pradesh coast. IMD has issued a yellow alert for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts, where heavy rain is likely in isolated places over the next 24 hours.
On Sunday, heavy rainfall is expected in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Kandhamal districts. Koraput and Malkangiri may experience heavy to very heavy rain, also under a yellow alert.
Looking ahead to July 8, the IMD has issued a yellow warning predicting heavy rain in Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur districts at isolated places.
