H&UD Minister directs speedy completion of WATCO projects during review

Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, conducted a thorough review meeting to evaluate the activities and progress of the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO).

The meeting centered on WATCO’s commitment to delivering safe and hygienic drinking water to the public and ensuring the timely completion of its ongoing projects.

Dr. Mahapatra underscored the vital importance of providing clean drinking water, which is essential for public health and well-being. He urged WATCO to accelerate the completion of ongoing projects to meet deadlines and address the growing water demands of the community. He also stressed the need for WATCO officials to handle public grievances with empathy and efficiency, ensuring that citizen concerns are resolved promptly.

WATCO CEO Pradipta Kumar Swain provided a detailed report on the corporation's progress, including achievements, current goals, and the status of ongoing projects. He outlined the action plan for the fiscal year 2024-25 and discussed future projects aimed at enhancing water supply infrastructure across Odisha.

The meeting, held at Kharabela Bhawan, included Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Public Enterprises T.Ao, Special Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Sagarika Pattanaik, Special Secretary of Public Enterprises Nihar Ranjan Dash, and other departmental officers. Their participation highlighted the collaborative effort and coordinated approach toward achieving the government’s objectives.
