Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: The authorities at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur have taken strict disciplinary action against four doctors involved in the assault on junior doctors at the hostel.

Following instructions from the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), the Dean and Principal of the medical college terminated the four doctors from their positions on "disciplinary grounds" with immediate effect. The doctors are: Dr. Purussottam Swain, Assistant Professor in Orthopedics; Dr. Aryan Kumar Mohanty, Senior Resident in Orthopedics; Dr. Chinmay Pradhan, Senior Resident in Orthopedics; and Dr. Yashwant Veera from the General Surgery department.

Additionally, Dr. Priyajeet Sahoo, a second-year postgraduate resident in Orthopedics, has been barred from the hostel for six months, as per a notification issued by the college administration.

The four doctors were previously prohibited from entering the hostel after they attacked a junior student on campus. The victim filed a complaint with the Baidyanathpur police station, and Dr. Suchitra Dash, the Principal, consulted the disciplinary committee before forwarding the recommendations to the DMET for further action.
