Bee attack claims life of Junior Engineer in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: Bishwanath Murmu, a Junior Engineer working in the Rairangpur Rural Development Construction division of Tiring block, tragically passed away after being attacked by a swarm of wild bees near the government colony in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj.

Reports indicate that Murmu left the divisional rest house in Rairangpur around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, heading to his workplace in Tiring. While passing by a blackberry tree in front of the house, he was suddenly attacked by a swarm of wild bees that had nested there.

The toxic bee stings caused him to vomit and lose consciousness, collapsing on the ground. Locals quickly transported him to the Rairangpur Sub-District Hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at 10:00 a.m. while receiving treatment.

Members of the Rairangpur Diploma Engineer Association have expressed deep sorrow over his untimely demise. Police stated that the body will be sent for an autopsy once the deceased's family members arrive.
