CM Mohan Majhi performs Bhoomi Pujan for Odisha’s first compound semiconductor facility at Info Valley
Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday performed the Bhoomi Pujan and groundbreaking ceremony of SiCSem Private Limited’s Compound Semiconductor Facility at Info Valley, marking a major step in Odisha’s emergence as a hub for advanced electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
With a proposed investment of ₹2,067 crore, the facility is expected to generate around 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Once operational, it will have an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and a packaging capacity of 96 million units, producing key components for electric vehicles, defence systems, railways, and renewable energy.
Highlighting Odisha’s technological ambitions, CM Majhi said the project embodies the state’s vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat, supported by progressive policies, world-class infrastructure, and a thriving innovation ecosystem. He also announced the establishment of a ₹64 crore Research and Innovation Centre at IIT Bhubaneswar to promote Silicon Carbide technology and strengthen the state’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Majhi emphasized that Odisha is rapidly positioning itself as one of India’s most investment-friendly destinations, driving growth through sectors like semiconductors, AI, and emerging technologies.
