Odisha Police unveil counterfeit motor parts supply chain between China and India

Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: A major racket involving the supply of counterfeit motor vehicle and heavy machinery parts was uncovered during a raid at an engineering showroom in Paradip, Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district.

The operation, which took place at a showroom in the Dochhaki area of Paradip, led to the seizure of a large quantity of fake parts from a specific brand of motor vehicles and machinery.

These duplicate parts were being stored at the showroom and were being distributed to various locations across the country. Authorities were alerted to the racket after receiving reliable information, prompting the company officials to conduct raids at the premises of two distributors in Kolkata and New Delhi.

During the raids, it was revealed that three distributors were sourcing the counterfeit parts from China and selling them in India. The fake parts, which were being sold for as low as Rs 700 to Rs 1,000, were priced significantly lower than the original parts, which cost between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000.

The police have stated that further action will be taken according to the law following the identification of the racket.
