Burglars target retired IAS officer's ancestral home in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: A group of burglars reportedly broke into the ancestral home of retired IAS officer Bijay Nayak in Budanga village, located within the Tihidi police jurisdiction, on Sunday. The thieves made off with valuables, including gold jewelry, cash amounting to lakhs, an inverter, and a television.
Reports indicate that Nayak and his family, along with a tenant, were away for 2-3 days attending a program when the burglary occurred. During this period, the burglars entered the property by twisting open the metal grills on the gate.
The tenant, who was also absent, expressed concern upon returning to find the house ransacked. "When I returned, I discovered that the house had been looted. The thieves stole gold worth Rs 1.5 lakh, at least Rs 20,000 in cash, an inverter, and a TV. These burglars must be held accountable as they are targeting homes in the area and could strike again," the tenant stated.
Upon receiving a tip from Nayak's relative, Tihidi police quickly responded to the scene. Inspector-in-Charge Prasanna Kumar Nayak confirmed that a scientific team has been dispatched to further investigate the incident.
