Body of missing Ravenshaw Professor retrieved from Jobra Barrage

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: The body of 79-year-old retired Professor Baishnab Charan Singh was discovered at Jobra Barrage on the Mahanadi River in Cuttack on Tuesday.
According to police reports, Professor Singh, a former faculty member at Ravenshaw College (now Ravenshaw University) in Cuttack, had been living in the Patia area of Bhubaneswar. His family reported him missing to the Chandrasekharpur Police Station on Monday.
Family members stated in their complaint that he left Patia for Cuttack on a 'Mo Bus' around 7:45 AM on Monday. CCTV footage confirmed that he exited the bus at Sikharpur bus stop in Cuttack. However, as he did not have a mobile phone, his family faced challenges in locating him.
A public notice regarding his disappearance was circulated, urging anyone with information to contact the Chandrasekharpur Police.
On Tuesday morning, locals noticed a body floating in the Mahanadi near Jobra Barrage and promptly alerted the authorities. Police retrieved the body and initiated an investigation. After verification, the deceased was confirmed to be Professor Singh, who had been reported missing since Monday.
