SJTA urges ASI to use advanced technology for Ratna Bhandar inspection

Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: Following the removal of empty almirahs and chests from the mysterious Ratna Bhandar at the Puri Jagannath temple, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has called on the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct an inspection as soon as possible.

In a letter to the ASI Director-General, SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee requested the use of advanced technology to survey both the inner and outer chambers of Ratna Bhandar, the sacred treasure repository of Lord Jagannath.

To ensure a comprehensive examination, the SJTA has proposed that the ASI work with specialized institutions such as IIT or CBRI, which have the necessary expertise. Once the survey and inspection are completed, the findings will guide any necessary repair work.

This inspection is particularly important given previous concerns about possible hidden tunnels or chambers within Ratna Bhandar. The SJTA has highlighted the need to carry out the inspection carefully to avoid any damage to the temple’s structure or sanctity.

The forthcoming inspection is a vital step in uncovering the mysteries of Ratna Bhandar while maintaining the temple’s integrity.
