PM Modi lays foundation stone for new Rayagada Railway Division

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: In a significant advancement for rail infrastructure in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new Rayagada Railway Division on Monday. This new division represents a key development in enhancing train services in the region, with an investment of over ₹107 crore.

During the inauguration, the Prime Minister announced multiple rail infrastructure initiatives across Odisha, Jammu-Kashmir, and Telangana, emphasizing their role in promoting tourism and facilitating socio-economic progress. He highlighted Odisha's rich natural resources and extensive coastline, which position the state for substantial international trade opportunities.

Currently, several railway projects totaling more than ₹70,000 crore are underway in Odisha, including the construction of seven Gati Shakti cargo terminals aimed at boosting trade and industry.

The new Rayagada Railway Division will include a Divisional Control Office, environmentally friendly staff accommodations, and modern facilities, all designed to enhance railway operations across the Koraput, Rayagada, and Kalahandi districts. This initiative is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of railway operations, drive economic growth, enhance demographic mobility, and foster regional development.
