Over 400 shuttlers from 22 countries to compete in Odisha Masters 2025 in December

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: Odisha is all set to host the Odisha Masters 2025 – BWF Tour Super 100 Tournament from 9th to 14th December at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack. The international badminton event will be organised jointly by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Badminton Association of India (BAI), Odisha State Badminton Association, and the Sports & Youth Services Department. This will mark the fourth edition of the prestigious tournament in Odisha.

Speaking at a press conference at Kalinga Stadium, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj shared details about the championship, revealing that players from 22 countries, including India, Finland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Israel, Japan, Spain, USA, Australia, England, Thailand, Indonesia, and several others, will participate. Over 400 athletes are expected to compete across five categories: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, with top-ranked international shuttlers also in the fray.

The Minister also announced the 37th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship at Kalinga Stadium from 1st to 6th December in Under-15 and Under-17 categories, featuring 750 players from across India, including 25 from Odisha.

Highlighting Odisha’s growing reputation in global sports, the Minister cited successful hosting of events like the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze and the Asian Table Tennis Championship, noting that the Odisha Masters will further strengthen the state’s sports credentials.

Odisha State Badminton Association President Rajesh Prabhakar Patil expressed pride in hosting the international tournament, while Sports & Youth Services Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav highlighted Odisha’s rising global sports identity. The official logo was unveiled, and the tournament mascot “Olly” energized attendees, adding excitement to the event.
